A Pretty Sweet Day in Math!

We have been working on determining the volume of rectangular prisms in our classroom. Today we decided to make it a sweet lesson (pun intended)! We build rectangular prisms with marshmallows!

We started on the floor with a conversation about what we already knew about Volume. Our kids decided it was like a building with rooms and floors.... we went from there!

Once we were done modeling and discussing, the students went back to their desk to work on building a rectangular prism out of their own marshmallows then creating the net that would glued and labeled into their math notebook for a later reference.

It was a pretty sweet day in math!
