This afternoon was the beginning of Family Advocacy Day, also known as Parent/Teacher Conferences. I had the opportunity to meet 8 sets of parents and it was fantastic! I love getting the opportunity to tell parents how much I enjoy having their kids in our class. Lisa and I are splitting the conferences, she takes half of the students and I take half but we are meeting in the same room so we get to meet all parents. One of my favorite parts of meeting parents is watching students take them around the room and showing them their favorite things in the iPad.
Tomorrow we have a full day of "meet the parents" and I can't wait! When I first started teaching I was very nervous to meet parents, but as time has gone by I look forward to these days almost as much as the first day with students. Connecting with families is one of the most important parts of being a teacher:)
